WATER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

Mohokare local municipality in partnership with department of water and sanitation and department of health held a water awareness campaign at Smithfield on the 06 November 2015.

The aim was to address the community about the current severe water situation in smithfield as well as to make the community aware of the drought that is happening. The community was cautioned to use water sparingly to try by all means not to waste water. The department of health focused on how community members can always make sure that their water is safe for drinking. The director of technical services explained that they are currently drawing water from our second water source which is Caledon River which will soon dry out from the drought we are currently experiencing.

The municipality is partaking in a joint project with the department of water and sanitation, the result of the project will enable us as the municipality to draw water from boreholes and supply it to the community, the municipality is doing everything in their power to get the situation under control.Click Here to View the Gallery
